Building the foundations for a stronger DEI Strategy

INSIGHT & CONSULTANCY | TRAINING & COACHING

While in the early stages of building their new & improved DEI strategy, creative technology agency Aer Studios were keen to create an employee approach that would support their existing workforce better and prepare them for a wider range of experiences as the team grows.

A large part of this project’s success leaned on the ability to have more comfortable conversations around reproductive health and understand the impact it has on the workplace.

“We knew that as part of our ongoing DEI charter, there needed to be a particular focus on gender equality. But if we were going to play a role in tackling the gender imbalance and systemic issues we face in the tech industries, we were going to need some help. Working with the brilliant team at HeyFlow has created a more open dialogue among the team and inspired new policies to better support women at all stages in their reproductive journeys. If you are looking for impactful and meaningful ways to further your DEI efforts, I would highly recommend HeyFlow.”

Tom Harber, Managing Director, Aer Studios

Our Approach

We created a bespoke companywide survey to gauge current understanding of reproductive health awareness and comfort levels, with a key focus on management knowledge of current Aer policies to highlight key education points that would form the basis of a half-day workshop with the entire team.

Outcomes

  • The survey identified key knowledge gaps, pinpointing areas for further education to empower employees to close the gap between policy and lived experience.

  • The workshop fostered a more open conversation and generated 7 employee-raised initiatives for consideration by management.

  • Increasing on a very solid baseline, 93% of workshop participants left feeling comfortable talking about all reproductive health topics covered, with 36.2% of participants feeling more comfortable than before.
