Bridging the gap between policy and reality

INSIGHT & CONSULTANCY

Although B-Corp recruitment agency ADLIB already had a solid reproductive health policy in place, they understood that menstruation and period health can still sometimes be taboo subjects, especially in the workplace, and wanted to ensure that they were doing all that they could to best support their employees.

“Ensuring every employee is supported to the best of our ability is incredibly important for us here at ADLIB. We have a series of policies intended to recognise the potential impact of menstrual and reproductive health at work, but we also understand that sometimes there can be a gap between policy and reality. HeyFlow allowed us to identify those gaps and take the next steps to support our workforce better.”

Pamela Bennett, People Manager, ADLIB

Our Approach

A bespoke survey was created for ADLIB’s employees that menstruate to capture the current levels of comfort towards menstrual health in the workplace, how it impacts their work and their confidence about raising menstrual health issues with management.

Outcomes

  • A knowledge gap in the Reproductive Health policy was revealed which allowed for a follow-up session about what it means, its purpose and how to use it.

  • An immediate ‘quick-win’ of providing emergency period supplies was identified and implemented.

  • Further management training around period health and its impact on the workplace was undertaken with managers to allow them to feel better equipped to support the people that they manage.
